About “Activity Girl”

The name “Activity Girl” is from a Joan Jett & the Blackhearts song of the same title (“Activity Grrrl”). Its reference is to a brash woman who champions for causes concerning her world and works to bring them to the attention of others. As a life-long Joan Jett fan, it seemed a fitting homage and title for a forum written by a woman on her own mission to “stir the pot” a bit.

So what causes and issues am I concerned with? Well, that honestly depends on the day.

As a business woman, I constantly strategize how I will beat the grim odds for small businesses and make my company succeed.

As an entrepreneur, I wonder what the future holds and where the next “great idea” will come from for my company to pursue.

As a citizen, I worry about my community, my neighbors, and my environment and what I can do to help.

As I woman, I struggle at times with inequities I still face, despite progress in our social, political and economic systems.

And as a mother and wife, I battle every day to find balance in all these things so that at the end the day, I can still give the love and energy that my family deserves.

What you will find in “Activity Girl” may vary but will revolve around those things I’ve mentioned. I hope that my endevours and experiences can be valuable to others who may deal with the same issues I deal with. What I won’t be writing about are deeply personal issues, because, quite frankly, those are private. And I always reserve the right to say or write something stupid and then blame it on sleep deprivation. So beware.
